We are excited to introduce our new initiative to help feed our rangers.  For just R100, you can provide a ready-made, nutritionally balanced Trail Meal to a ranger, giving them what they need to stay fit and healthy for endurance on long patrols and deployments.  This will also help improve their lifestyle and living conditions.

Rangers are low income earners who spend a minimum of 25% of their salary on food when deployed. This project will help replace what they need to spend on resupplying their food for their deployments, leaving them with more funds to support themselves and their families.

We have partnered with Dinner Mates who supply these Trail Meals, which are proudly South African made. They are dehydrated, lightweight and prepared quickly with water, saving the rangers time, so they can dedicate more time to saving animals. The meals are packed full of premium quality real meat, chicken and vegetables, providing the rangers with a hearty meal at the end of a long day out in the field. The Trail Meals comes in a variety of flavours including beef with pasta or potato, chicken, lamb and rice, spaghetti bolognaise and vegetables.

The Dinner Mates factory was “commissioned in 1985 in Louis Trichardt, South Africa, to supply the hospitality trade and food factories with a product range consisting of frozen main meals, fast food items, cocktail snacks, vegetarian dishes and dried meats”. Their products are “high quality portion controlled and easy to prepare, with menu lines that are timesaving in preparation and cost effective”.

The meals will be provided to our rangers, along with other anti-poaching units around Africa through Great Plains Foundation Project Ranger. Supporting our rangers on the ground will help protect our precious wildlife. Thank you for helping our rangers!
